Just weeks ahead of the North American release for the Sony PlayStation Vita, the 3G plan for the product has seemingly been switched up by carriers AT&T. Originally, the plan was being priced at a total cost of $25 per month, with a data limit of 2GB. This plan, which was previously found on Sony’s official PlayStation website, is now being advertised with an increased data limit of 3GB for a price of $30 per month.
This increase can be viewed in two different ways for PlayStation Vita players. Certainly a 1GB kick up in data for only $5 is a lot of bang for your buck. However, many users of the vita may not be planning on that much data use regardless. Despite early reports, some have speculated that the lower data plan will still be available for those who aren’t planning on getting anywhere near 3GB in use.
Some more cool news involving the Vita was released this week with the announcement of new accessories for the handheld console. A grip assistance feature was released in Japan, in which an add-on can be attached to the Vita to have the regular feel of a classic PlayStation dual shock controller. Another accessory release overseas has also gained attention, as Sony showed off a portable USB power set. This set will serve as a charging station for the Vita battery. The USB power set is expected to be a big hit here as it can also be used for the Nintendo 3DS.
The Vita has received some speculation involving battery life upon the early releases in Japan. Products such as Sony’s portable USB power set should help to alleviate any and all concerns involving the battery life as the North American release for the handheld console is just weeks away from a February 22 arrival in stores.
